It started in the late 1990s with Guy Kawasaki’s Boot Camp for Startups. It was early garage shop venture stuff. Concentrated all-day energy, discussions, how-to, why-to and know-how for Silicon Valley startups.
That idea has grown a lot since then. I hear good things about startup camps. Try the Google search for startup camp and click on the links to get an idea. Or Google startup boot camp for another dose.
I just read about a new startup camp sponsored by O’Reilly Media in Northern California in July. And I’ve posted before on this blog about the startup camp sponsored by Sun Computers.
My friend and co-worker Jake Weatherly of Palo Alto Software is at Startup Weekend in Portland, Oregon, as I write this, and he’s promised me a brain dump when he gets back.
If you’re interested in starting a business, look into it.
