How successful would small business owners in the U.S. say they are, if you asked them?  Here at Palo Alto Software, we are always interested in helping people succeed in business. That’s why earlier this year, we wrote a white paper on the state of small business in the first quarter of 2014,  based off of the survey that we conducted of nearly 400 small business owners.

The news was promising. Business owners are optimistic, and according to our poll, they’re planning to create jobs. In fact, 76 percent of respondents said they expect to bring on new employees this year. That’s music to the ears of the many job seekers out there in this rocky but recovering economy.

Business planning and tracking financial metrics proved to directly contribute to the success of established businesses. 55 percent reported that thinking more strategically has helped them on the road to success. What strategies are they employing? How often are they checking up on key metrics? The results were so interesting and the data had so much to say, that we decide to compile it together for you in this infographic. Take a look, and if you like it, please share it!
