Tony was born and raised in Saint John, N.B. in Canada where he attended St. Malachy’s Memorial High School before moving on to St. Thomas University (BA) and then the University of King’s College where he earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree. Tony’s writing career began as a print journalist, writing for newspapers and magazines before transitioning to the field of film and television. Tony is an alumnus of both the Canadian Film Centre’s (CFC) Professional Screenwriting Program and the National Screen Institute’s Totally Television Program. Upon graduating from the CFC, Tony was hired to adapt the Stevie Cameron best-selling non-fiction book Blue Trust into a feature film script. Around the same time, Tony wrote for the CTV comedy series Robson Arms. Tony’s feature length screenplays have been optioned by producers such as Sam Grana (produced The Boys of St. Vincent) and Elizabeth Yake. (produced It’s All Gone Pete Tong) In 2012, Tony developed his half hour comedy series Book Club with CTV/Bell Media. In 2013 he earned a Leo Award nomination for Best Screenwriting in an Animated Series for his episode “A Wanderer No More” for the APTN animated series Animism: The Gods Lake. Tony has story edited hundreds of short film scripts, TV scripts, feature film scripts, and novels. Tony is currently editing novels for authors based out of Tampa, Florida and Istanbul, Turkey. Since 2007, Tony has served as the Story Editor in Residence for the New Brunswick Film Short Film Venture Program. He has given workshops on narrative storytelling at the Northrop Frye Literary Festival and New Brunswick Writer’s Federation. Tony has returned to his early love of journalistic writing by freelancing long form articles and blog posts. He is currently turning his TV series pilot for The New Twenty into his first novel. Tony lives in Toronto where he continues to be tormented by his beloved Maple Leafs.
