I was talking with a gentleman today about his discouragement in an unexpected downturn with his business. It started me thinking of what defines success and what people through the years have said about it.
Success is a journey, not a destination.
As you climb the ladder of success, be sure it’s leaning against the right building.
~Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
I couldn’t wait for success… so I went ahead without it.
Success is often the result of taking a misstep in the right direction.
I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.
~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., US Supreme Court Justice
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
Did I get your favorite quote on success? What are some of your favorites?
